Professional experience

Engineering experience across backend, distributed, and AI-enabled systems.

My professional work spans customer-facing backend development and R&D engineering. Across both, I've worked close to the implementation layer: building application features, integrating services, tracing distributed execution, testing interconnected components, and turning technical requirements into working software.

Key engineering story

A major part of my work was making execution inside an existing multi-agent orchestration framework observable. I instrumented a Java/Python system with more than 10–12 interacting agents so engineers could inspect how requests propagated across the framework rather than treating orchestration as a black box.

  • Implemented end-to-end distributed tracing across an existing Java/Python multi-agent orchestration framework with 10–12+ interacting agents using OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, and Grafana.
  • Designed and implemented distributed agent-system components including RabbitMQ messaging, gRPC service communication, context management, task orchestration, and external API integrations.
  • Built and evaluated agent-framework prototypes, including AutoGPT-based experiments, and implemented RAG components using Weaviate, PostgreSQL-backed workflows, LLM services, and supplier APIs for ticket and hotel reservation use cases.
  • Personally implemented GitLab CI/CD workflows and worked with Docker and Kubernetes-based environments while integrating and testing distributed software components.
  • Collaborated with engineers on debugging, testing, integration, and technical evaluation of interconnected backend and AI-enabled services.

Ownership

I worked on software used by customers and end users, with ownership extending from requirement analysis through implementation. My work was primarily backend-focused, while also contributing across the application where integrations and client-facing workflows required it.

  • Worked as a primary backend contributor on customer-facing web applications, taking software features from requirement analysis through implementation.
  • Developed backend and full-stack application features using Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, React, and REST APIs for client-focused business applications.
  • Designed REST API endpoints, JWT-based authentication, database models, and application workflows used by customers and end users.
  • Integrated third-party APIs and external services, implemented serverless workflows using AWS Lambda, and contributed to testing, debugging, maintenance, and iterative feature development.
  • Worked on PDF-generation workflows using Puppeteer, solving pagination, page-breaking, and editor-to-PDF rendering challenges.

Leadership

IEEE Computer Society Student Branch · University of Ruhuna

Served as Chairman from Feb 2025 to Jan 2026 and held leadership or team-lead responsibilities across more than six university events. I also contributed as a core member of HaXtreme and led work around its technical positioning and organization for HaXtreme 2.0.
